Racewell Sheep Handlers

My Racewell Sheep Handler won't turn on.

  1. If running off 12v car battery, check battery is charged.
  2. If running off mains power, check power supply is plugged in.
  3. If possible, try powering the unit using the battery if currently on mains, and vice versa.
  4. Disconnect eye cables while the machine is powered on. If these are damaged and shorting, this can cause the unit to power off. Contact Te Pari to purchase more cables.
  5. If the machine still isn't powering on at this point, contact Te Pari for further technical assistance.

How to pair a Racewell Remote?

If you need to replace your Racewell remote, it must be programmed to operate with your unit.
This is done by turning on the Racewell and holding down buttons CLAMP and RELEASE on the remote for 3 seconds. The old 4 Button Black Remote which are no longer available press and hold buttons A & B.

The currently available Blue Te Pari Remote Control will work on all 4 Eye Racewell Handlers. However the Side Tilt buttons will not work unless the Handler firmware has been updated to the lates version. This requires an on farm visit from a Te Pari Technician. The DRAFT Gates (Sort Gates) and Clamp & Release will work without any changes to the firmware.

Please Note - If your remote has been programmed for use on another Racewell, you will need to re-programme it to your Racewell before you can use it again

If you wish to order a new REMOTE use the Search function in the top right of this website. Search REMOTE to see the various models available.

I need a service on my Racewell

  2. For a T20 moniter, make sure the comms cable is plugged into comm one.
  3. Visually Check the comms cable for damage.
  4. Check that the plug connection is not rusty.

My Racewell's airlines/eye cables have been chewed.

For airlines, take note of where the airline runs to and from.

For eye cables, take note of whether the cable has an elbow or is straight when it exits the eye.

Contact Te Pari to order new lengths.

What compressor do I need for my Racewell Handler or Drafter?

We recommend a compressor that has 12cfm or 350 litres per minutes  pump displacement and a 50L tank. Free Air Delivery at 90PSI should be 8.76 CFM or 248L/Min.

For electric compressors this will generally mean they have a 3hp motor

Does the Shearwell Farmworks Stock Recorder work with the Te Pari Racewell Sheep Handler or Auto Drafter/Sorter?

Yes the Shearwell Farmworks Stock Recorder will connect to the Racewell unit. You do need to order some extra Bluetooth module on the Racewell and the EID set up to suit. Download the instructions on how to connect here

I need to replace the airlines to the Clamp Wall Ram

For all blue Racewells, the airline size to the top of the ram is 6mm in diametre, and 10mm to the bottom of the Ram.

Can I still get my Racewell 2-Eye Handler repaired?

Unfortunately, we can no longer source the circuit board parts required to repair or replace the old Novel Ways control boxes and Iconix draft controllers on the 2-eye Racewell Sheep Handlers. These model machines were last produced in the year 2000. The only option available is to downgrade the sheep handler to a manual machine, which means it will no longer have auto functions such as catch/release and drafting.

If you have a 2-eye machine that needs repairs, please contact our team for further advice.

Docking Irons

My docking iron does not get hot enough.

  1. Clean inside burner tube. Insect nests or spider webs are sometimes found inside the burner tube. These restrict the gas flow and need to be cleaned out with a small rag or small brush
  2. Clean jet. The best way to clean a jet is by dropping it into a jar of boiling water. This removes the waxy type build-up which can occur. If unit still does not perform then replace jet (refer Parts List for correct Part No).
  3. Jet can also be pricked with 5 amp fuse wire - do not drill jet.

My Docking Iron will not light

  1. Ensure the gas bottle is attached correctly, has sufficient gas in it and all fittings are tightened.

My Docking Iron will not stay lit.

Reason: This is not uncommon and in 99% of cases internationally it is caused by the fuel. The pressurized fuel has a component of wax in it for reasons known only to the suppliers. The wax settles at the top of the bottle and consequently it is the first thing that comes out through the hose instantly blocking the fine apertures in the docking iron inlet and jet.

This is only usually an issue when a fresh bottle is connected to your iron and I always tell customers to use a new bottle on the barbeque first so the wax can get out through the bigger holes. If you are working to unblock your iron, be sure that you have gotten rid of any waxy gas via your barbeque before re-connecting the bottle to your iron.

Fix: If the burner-tube is removed the brass handle piece can be boiled up for a few minutes in a pot of water. Leave the hose connected at both ends during this process. When you are satisfied that the assembly is hot enough for the wax to have melted remove from the pot and crank open the tap on the gas bottle to blow the melted wax out.

Another issue which can have similar effect is small particles of dirt or grit being inside the gas bottle tap outlet when the hose is being connected. Anything in the pipeline is blown straight into the iron when the tap is opened. You can check this by unscrewing the hose-fitting where it enters the iron. You may find minute particles in the opening, which can swirl around upsetting the flow or completely block  the tiny aperture.

In the unliky event that your iron is still not holding a flame, please contact us for support.

Dosing Gun

My Dosing Gun is showing Error 94, c08 10, power off.

1: Put the gun into update mode by holding the down button then quickly pressing the on button.

2: After the 4th bar loads and the screen shows upgrade, turn it off then on again.

3: We recommend updating the firmware as well, as per the attached video.

My Dosing Gun shows Error 56

This is when the wrong barrel is on the gun. Follow this video to change the barrel.

My Dosing Gun is showing Error 49

This is a Wifi connection issue and is fixed by updating the firmware. Watch this video:

title

I have a lock symbol on the screen and can't adjust the dose

Hold down the prime button to unlock the gun. You can lock it again by the same action.

This feature is on the Standard Model guns so the dose amount is not accidently adjusted while being used.

My calibrated Dosing Gun drops out of connection from the scale.

Update drench gun firmware using the app. This will normally fix the issue.

Update scale firmware as per the suppliers instructions.

How do I connect a Te Pari Scale Indicator to the Dosing Gun?

Follow the instructions in the Dosing Gun manual.

Can my drench work with the Dosing Gun?

Yes. We have not come across a product that hasnt worked with the gun.

Our simple promise is:  “It works for you (or we will take it back)

My Dosing Gun comes up with a Stall Error when delivering product

1: The Gun has a built-in stall feature to prevent overloading. Try reducing the piston speed as shown on page 5 of the Dosing Gun Manual

2: Remove the barrel and valves (inlet and outlet) and make sure everything is clean and moves freely.

3: Check the drive thread. Remove the barrel and pull the trigger and see if the gun stalls. If it stalls without the barrel it could be a tight drive thread. The drive thread is self-lubricating however a small drop of oil could help. If the drive thread is tight and makes the motor labour then the drive thread and piston should be replaced.

4: Check that your injection site is correct. The gun may stall if the needle hits a bone.

5: If the Gun still stalls then take note of where the piston is stalling and contact Te Pari. If it is stalling on the return stroke there could be an issue with the magnet sensor in the piston which detects the home position. Contact Te Pari for support.

Dosing gun displays stall error immediately upon start up

The piston is likely missing a magnet or the wrong barrel was set when changing the piston size.

  1. Hold both Menu and Up arrow and turn the gun on.
  2. The screen will display upgrade Wi-Fi Y/N
  3. Press P (Prime button) to step to the next option which is test mode.
  4. Press P again and you will get the Piston Load screen.
  5. Tap the Power button to enter this menu.
  6. Use arrows to get the piston off.
  7. There are two magnets located at the base of the piston in a 12 & 6 o’clock position. If for whatever reason there is only one magnet in place, refit the piston to the gun with the magnet at the 12’oclock position and the gun should return to operation.
  8. If this doesn’t work then contact Te Pari and organise it to be returned for repair.

My Dosing Gun is randomly turning off.

Reason:The springs that hold the battery in place may not be effective after a lot of use.

Fix: Remove the bottom cap from the gun, and the batteries. With your finger, lift the springs a little so they are in better contact with the battery.

Alternatively, return your gun to Te Pari to have new springs fitted. This can be added free of charge into a general service if requested.

What is the Te Pari Dosing Gun Barrel made of?

The barrel is made of Polypropylene for the 14ml and 70ml barrels and TPX for the 6ml barrel. This means the gun can be safely used with treatments such as Longrange

Dosing Gun barrel will not fill or suck in the liquid.

If the barrel is not filling it means that it is sucking air and not the liquid. Mostly likely the air is coming in the main outlet valve at the end of the barrel. It could also be inlet valve which is on the side of the barrel where the tubing connects.

Remove the outlet valve and clean it. Check there is no grit on the inside where the valve seats or on the oring. Use a piece of cloth/rag to clean it or a small brush. Repeat this for the inlet valve. If either of these valves continue to not seal then replace them with the spare valve from the Spares kit.

On the 14ml barrel the valves are both he same size. On the 70ml barrel the larger valve is used on the outlet at the end of the barrel.

Scales

My Loadbar cables need to be replaced.

Replacing the cables needs specialised equipment. Send the Loadbars into Te Pari Products with your full contact details included.

If the repair is below $200, it will be completed and sent back. If above this price, one of our Customer Service team will contact you with a quote of the repair.

My scales weight is wrong but stable.

Check your loadbar settings if they are correct. These depend on what brand scale indicator and loadbars you use.

My scales weight is fluctuating.

  1. Check for no build-up under the front extension plate (for Racewells), or the dag'n'weigh plate.
  2. Check there is no moisture in the loadbar or scale plugs.
  3. Clean loadbar plugs with a contact cleaner.
  4. If the weight is still fluctuating, try unplugging one loadbar to isolate a potentially faulty unit.
  5. Weigh a static weight (drum of drench or sack of feed, etc.) directly over the single live loadbar - unplug the opposite loadbar from the scale head. If the weight readout is double, then the loadbar is healthy. Repeat this on the other loadbar. If the weight reading is still incorrect or fluctuating, the loadbar must be sent into Te Pari.

My T10/T20 is not holding charge.

If your scale is a couple of years old, you will need to purchase a new battery as these lose their ability to hold charge after a time.

Try charging the scale head overnight. If still no better, You will need to send the scale into Te Pari for repair. IMPORTANT: Please include with the scale your name and contact details.

The Power Supply will charge your indicator while in the field. Contact Te Pari to purchase.

How do I connect my loadbars to a T10 scale indicator?

Follow instructions in the T10 Manual

My scales are showing error ADC

If the scale is on charge, disconnect from charger cord and power cycle (turn it off then on).

If still showing the error, contact Te Pari.

What are the calibration settings for Te Pari Overhead Cells on Silencer Hydraulic Chutes?

On a Te Pari Scale indicator you need to select Loadbar model T6000.

For other brands of scales you need to do a custom calibration. The specs for this are 0.8 mV and max capacity of 3400kg per cell.

Woolpress Parts

Can I still get parts for my old woolpress?

Te Pari currently stocks the press and hoist ropes for the old HSW or lift and swing Donalds Woolpresses. We also carry the Hoist brake kits which can be added to old presses to stop the top box free falling.

These are the only parts we have. No other parts are available. Any instruction manuals available online are for reference only.

We suggest you contact a local engineer for repairs or search for someone that does woolpress repairs or woolpress service.
